Summer Visit

In the winter months we see hundreds of Rosy Finches at our feeder, particularly on days when the weather is at its worst in the mountains. They swoop in by the flocks of dozens of birds at a time, occasionally running into rocks or trees because of their concentration on following the group.

But I have never seen a rosy finch with the intense coloring of this one I spotted on top the Beartooth Highway. I don't know if it is because of the mating season or if he is just a spectacular individual. Either way, it was a treat to see this winter buddy in the summer!
